Pedra Ferida

This is becoming a tradition. Again this year, in the earliest days of January, I went for a nice walk to the portuguese country side. (see post for early 2008 walk)

This year it happened to be in Penela, 30 minutes drive from Coimbra after recomendation of one of the participants (and also author at this blog - Alex).

We were truly lucky has it had been rainning hard for the past days - reason why there is such a great water flow in the river - and not in that morning. By the moment we reached the car in our way home... guess what, it started rainning. :)

When the saints go dancing in

Alfama, Lisbon, Portugal

A few posts ago I mentioned the Saints season in Lisbon, which took place around the 13th June (local holiday).

Well, I didn't missed it and brought some photos from the hotest day, the 12th June evening, where I had the chance to live this such unique (for thousands of people) event.

I must say I went to Alfama hill, one of the usual winners of the parade and where you can find in "literally" every corner: the decoration, the music and the sardines.

Forget fado, these days are meant to party. Leave sadness for the hangover...

I just did the shooting, the easy part.
Congratulations for the volunteer models who consistently allowed me these beautifull photos in a brief period of 15 minutes...
Who needs a championship when you have such quality surfers in a beach next to you?

Eis algo com que todos nós nos cruzamos no dia-a-dia de Coimbra. Anúncios para quartos e mais anúncios e mais outros tantos. São tão típicos de Coimbra como a capa e as guitarras. E, segundo alguns, a maneira ideal de arranjar alojamento. Com erros, sem erros, com mais ou menos originalidade, mais ou menos informativos, eles estão em cada rua e em cada esquina.

Espero que assim continue para que Coimbra seja cada vez mais única, com a sua identidade que alguns teimam em matar com alguns elefantes brancos, mas é um desejo meu que os Conimbricenses se orgulhem da sua origem. E desejo que com o património construído e o cultural a cidade se possa tornar mais conhecida e respeitada em todo o mundo, sobretudo como pólo de conhecimento. É para isso que vêm todos os anos milhares de pessoas que se alojam nestes e noutros quartos que já são parte de toda a tradição Coimbrã.

O Rasganço é um marco para a vida de alguns estudantes que procuram saltar este obstáculo e seguir para ultrapassar os outros. Rasga-se o fato, mas fica a capa que cobre as memórias daqueles anos em que ganharam mais sabedoria e conheceram outras pessoas que ficam para a vida.

Estes pedaços de roupa são mais do que tecido, são uma etapa da vida que passou e que ali se deixa para que a cidade se recorde deles.

Porque Coimbra não é só feita de prédios e ruas, aqui fica o testemunho de mais um estudante que leva as recordações para mais tarde recordar. Espero que gostem... portem-se mal!

31st December trail

Paredes de Coura, Portugal

What best way to finish 2007 then a small trail in the morning. Weather was good and the set ready for our arrival.
"Pia dos Quatro Abades" trail is located in north Portugal, very close to the spanish Galicia in the county of Paredes de Coura where every year a national rock festival takes place by the summer time.
But we didn't go for the festival. Just for a quite walk through the diversed scenery of woods, small hills, sheeps, water courses and fields.
Well.. better than describing, why not "read" the photos?
